Rochester Labor Council Local Endorsements
The Rochester & Vicinity Central Labor Council makes endorsements in many elections each year. The endorsement process is directed by COPE (Committee on Political Education). The current COPE Chair is Candace Rubin, RTA/NYSUT. COPE includes representatives from many area unions and are tasked with keeping our members informed about local political questions and ensuring that Labor's voice is coordinated and engaged in local political matters. We are very political engaged, but non-partisan. We encourage candidates of all parties to apply for our endorsement.
Our Timeline for 2023:
- Primary endorsement questionnaires are due by March 18th.
- Primary endorsement interviews will be held throughout the day on March 25th.
- Primary endorsement decisions will be made on April 13th by the Delegates of the Rochester Labor Council.
- General Election questionnaires are due by Tuesday, August 29th.
- General Election interviews will happen September 6th and 7th.
- General Election endorsement decisions will be made on September 14th by the Delegates of the Rochester Labor Council.
We will only be making decisions in primary races in those instances where the outcome of the primary is largely understood to be the deciding factor in who will ultimately hold office.
