Labor Day Parade 2024
Union Street and East Avenue
Various Kick off Line ups depending on union
The Rochester Labor Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, September 2, 2024. As one of the most important days of the year to our members, we hope that attendance will be at an all time high this year. There is much to communicate in our message; we made strides in salary equality, yet must focus on job creation in our community. Our theme is FIGHTING FOR DEMOCRACY!
Line up will begin at 10am and the press conference will then as well. The Press Conference will be at the NYSUT building at 30 North Union Street. The parade then kicks off at 11am!
The first Labor Day Parade meeting is scheduled for THURSDAY, JULY 25TH. A representative from each participant group marching must attend these meetings. All meetings are held at the New York State United Teachers building and begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. Meeting dates are:
Thursday, July 25th
August 29th
In the past, we solicited donations to offset the costs for running the parade year after year. Despite generous donations from some of our participants, the balances of these costs remain. We ask that each participant in the parade pay a minimum of $100 to march this year. Please include your check with your registration form, payable to Rochester Labor Council, AFL-CIO. Any additional amount is welcome and much appreciated.
Enclosed is the Labor Day Parade Recognition Sheet. Please complete and email to the Rochester Labor Council at rgvalf@gmail.com or mail it to us at: Rochester Labor Council, 30 N Union Street, Suite 100, Rochester NY 14607. We need detailed information of the number of participants and the exact number of vehicles. The police department is requesting that each group keep the number of vehicles to two or three. Please return this form as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your solidarity on this growing event every year. We look forward to seeing you at the meetings and of course at the parade!
